£6m golf courses planned for Brazil
A £6 million contract to build two golf courses in Brazil is set to go to a Newcastle-based firm.
Golf course design company A World of Golf is backed by former Ryder Cup Captain Mark James and has developed over 160 golf resorts around the world, reports NEbusiness.com.
The Chairman of the company, Andrew Mair, who is a former professional golfer, told the publication: "The economy in Brazil is the strongest of all the South American countries. It’s a huge economy where they are looking to develop golf centres and resorts."
He added that although there was competition in the Latin American country from US competitors he was confident A World of Golf’s "traditional British golf course designs" have what it takes to succeed.
Last month property hints and tips website Amberland recommended Brazil as a prime location for investment in golfing property.
It pin-pointed the north-eastern region of Brazil as particularly lucrative for investors due to its accessibility from Europe and North America, stunning beaches and "vibrant way of life".
