Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce to work on tourism in 2008
Having recently signed an agreement with the Brazilian ministry of tourism, the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is to focus on promoting the tourism sector this year.
The Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA) reports that the organisations will be working together to further develop tourism between the two regions.
Antonio Sarkis Jr, president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber, said that the introduction of a direct flight between Sao Paulo and Dubai last year has helped to boost the tourism industry between the two countries.
Commenting on the flight, Rubens Hannun, voice president of the chamber, suggested that Brazilian tourists were using the flights to also take advantage of business opportunities.
"This is the result of an effort by Dubai to attract visitors and also of the maturing of Brazilian companies, which are showing themselves more and more," he said, according to the ANBN.
In related news, British Airways recently announced that it is launching new services to Rio de Janeiro later this year.
