Brazil becoming ‘more of a holiday home market’
Increasing numbers of people are looking for property in Brazil because they see it as a prime holiday destination, according to an expert.
Paul Collins, property editor for BuyAssociation.co.uk, asserts that although the housing market in Brazil was initially "purely for investors", more and more people are now seeing it as a vacation spot.
"It is definitely drifting more towards a holiday home market, rather than the purely investment market that it was even as little as two years ago," said Mr Collins.
British buyers are attracted to Brazil’s "diverse landscape, rich culture, idyllic climate and affordability", according to BuyAssociation.co.uk.
The cost of living in the country is just 20 per cent of that in the UK, while property prices are low and there is a large volume of new-builds, the impartial customer advice forum says.
It adds that Brazil’s tourism industry has expanded by around a third in the last year.
