Brazil is world’s 6th largest economy
Brazil is the sixth largest economy in the world, according to new reports.
A study by the World Bank has revealed that Brazil has risen from the seventh to the sixth largest economy, in its International Comparison Programme which takes into account 146 countries.
The programme found that Brazil accounts for half of the South American economy and the country’s governmental expenses answer for two thirds of governmental expenses in the region.
China came second in the report while, unsurprisingly, the US came in first with Japan third, Germany fourth and India fifth.
France, Russia, Italy and the UK also shared sixth position with Brazil, while Spain and Mexico jointly took seventh place.
The World Bank report explained how it had compiled the list.
"Through purchasing power parity it is possible to compare the size of the market, the structure of the economies and what money can buy," the report claimed.
