Brazilian film festival to hit NYC
Those considering buying property in Brazil might be interested to hear a film festival will open in Central Park on Sunday (August 10th) drawing attention to the Latin American nation, it has been reported.
Sao Paulo songstress Maria Rita will perform at the launch of the event to celebrate her native country’s cinema, according to Brazzil Magazine.
The diva told the publication she is very excited about the performance because of special memories she cherishes from the time she lived in the city.
"I remember the excitement that my friends and I had whenever we went to a concert in Central Park, and now I am playing there. I feel like a child – my friends will all be there, it will be crazy," she added.
Walter Lima Jr’s movie – entitled OS Desafinados – about a fictional bossa-nova band will be screened as will Ana Jobim’s The House of Tom and What Ever Happened to Dulce Veiga by Guilherme de Almeida Prado.
Maria Rita is the daughter of Brazilian singing legend Elis Regina and she was nominated for the BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music on June 28th this year.
