Brazilian firm named Hydrocarbon Producer of the Year
Brazilian energy firm Petrobas has been awarded a major industry honour.
People looking for property in Brazil may be interested to hear the Rio de Janeiro-based firm has been named the oil and gas producer of the year by the 2008 Platts Global Energy Awards.
The honour is given annually by energy commodity firm Platts and recognises achievement by energy firm in adhering to high standards of quality and production and also to investing in new discoveries and technological achievements.
Petrobas was unveiled as the winner in the Hydrocarbon Producer of the Year category, beating off competition from over 200 companies in more than 22 countries, at a special ceremony in New York.
Brazil’s forestry service recently set a target to reduce the level of deforestation by 70 per cent by 2018, reported Mercopress.
Under the plans, it aims to prevent some 4.8 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere.
