Brazilian property ’second for capital appreciation’
Brazilian property investors may be interested to know that the country represents the second best opportunity for capital appreciation, according to a survey.
A poll of The Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate’s 200 members in the fourth quarter of 2008 found that 16 per cent saw Brazil as a good place to invest, ranked second behind the US, which gained just over a third of the vote.
Brazil has risen from twelfth to second place in the survey, which was conducted by the James A Graaskamp Centre for Real Estate at the University of Wisconsin.
The country was also named alongside India in the top two emerging markets for future investment.
Green issues were reasonably important to respondents, with just under two-thirds saying that a building’s eco-friendly attributes influenced their decision "somewhat so", while 11 per cent said environmental features had a "significant" effect on their choice.
Last week, an expert said that people looking for property in Brazil should not see price as an "overriding factor" in their decision to purchase.
