Buying Brazilian property in dollars creates ‘good deals’
There are good deals to be found in South America for those buying property with dollars, according to industry experts.
Buy Association, a property website that offers impartial overseas property advice, has said that although there are good deals to be done in the US itself, in some South American states investors can pay for property in dollars, making for "attractive deals there".
Paul Collins, overseas property editor of BuyAssociation, said: "With the dollar…when you buy property in a lot of other countries, like the Caribbean and some parts of Central and South America, you buy in dollars.
"So with some properties in the Caribbean and Latin and South America, you could be buying property there in places that aren’t suffering like the US is and you’ve still got the strength of using the dollar."
He added that depending on the markets and the developer, this way of buying is relatively common in South America, and noted that investors should look out for deals that are financed by the dollar.
Currently the dollar is very weak against the pound, making buying in dollars an attractive prospect, according to x-rates.com.
