Collaboration ‘key to boosting Brazilian tourism’
Tourism bodies have called for greater collaboration between governmental and private sector organisations at an international conference in Brazil.
Florianopolis has been playing host to the Global Travel and Tourism Summit, which culminated in Luiz Henrique da Silveira, governor of the State of Santa Catarina, telling delegates that optimism and co-operation was needed to rise above the current economic challenges, according to ETN.
Jean-Claude Baumgarten, president and chief executive of the World Travel and Tourism Council, said the sector was one of the most important economic areas in the world and reinforced the need to develop partnerships between nations, the news provider reports.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who opened the summit, added: "Given tourism’s dynamic catalytic effect on other sectors of the economy, the Brazilian government is determined to join hands with this sector to reinforce its role in job creation."
Meanwhile, a recent report by KPMG found that businesses within the Brazilian service sector expect revenues and profits to grow in the coming year.
