Computer sales boom in Brazil
PC sales are booming in Brazil according to latest figures from an industry analyst, it has been reported.
Gartner has revealed that Brazil is leading the way in the surge of computer sales across Latin America as it is crowned the continents "top PC market".
Hélio Rotenberg, president of Brazilian computer manufacturer Positivo, told the Latin Business Chronicle that the nation’s consumers bought more computers than TV sets for the first time last year.
The report added that shipments of PCs grew by nearly one-fifth (19.1 per cent) in the first quarter of 2008 – compared to the previous year – reaching 6.3 million units, more than six times the growth seen in the US (three per cent).
