Expert: Research area before buying Brazilian property

Property buyers, whether investing in UK accommodation or Brazil real estate, should do their homework before signing on the dotted line, according to an expert.

Timothy Lambert, head of consulting at Ducalian, says that investors, such as those looking at property in Brazil, should research the surrounding area before they commit to buying real estate.

The expert suggests that purchasers should check websites to find out how much similar properties are being bought and sold for in the locality.

Mr Lambert also advises looking more specifically at particular roads and boroughs to check the average values of real estate before they decide to spend their money on property in the area.

Those who already own property in Brazil or elsewhere should also look to add value to the accommodation wherever possible by modernising it and making the most of additional space, Mr Lambert adds.

Meanwhile, Les Calvert, director of Property Abroad, has suggested that now may be the time to invest in Brazilian property as the economic downturn has created bargains in the real estate market.
