Financial experts say Brazil is ‘worth monitoring’
Financial experts have said that Brazil is "worth monitoring" this week.
Market commentators tipped the Latin American nation as having potential to be one of the most profitable markets for investment during 2008, despite the predicted global economic slowdown.
Philippa Gee of financial advisory firm Torquil Clark told the Daily Telegraph that Brazil is "well worth monitoring", despite many investors tipping India and Russia as investment hot spots.
She said: "Brazil has done very well, mainly due to good export levels and sound economic growth. It represents an area with great potential for this year and we will be monitoring this region closely."
She advised that those tempted by the potential high returns emerging markets offer but concerned about their volatility should consider a global emerging markets fund.
Fellow financial expert Gary Limjuco, director of equity investments for Time Equities, also tipped Brazil as where the clever money is this week.
He told the New York Times that "people have already looked at India and China" and are now looking for the next investment hot spot – Brazil.
