Gol opens its 59th destination
Brazilian airline Gol has begun operating its 59th flight route this week, it has been announced.
The airline will now fly to Sao Jose dos Campos, which is the 21st destination outside of Brazil’s state capitals, and the fourth city outside of the capital in Sao Paulo state, that Gol will fly to.
Flights will depart daily from Tom Jobim Airport in Rio de Janeiro and will connect Vale do Paraiba to all destinations which the airline serves.
Sao Jose dos Campos has a population of around 610,000 residents and its gross domestic product is the third largest per capita in Sao Paulo, according to figures released by the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatistica.
Over 47,000 workers are employed in around 1,251 industries in the city, including automotive, telecommunications, aerospace and defence.
This month has seen strong growth in Brazil’s aviation industry as the country’s top aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced that it has taken orders for over 60 jets at the Dubai Air Show.
