Latin America and Caribbean ‘unite to boost tourism’
Representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean are coming together to discuss ways of boosting tourism in the region.
Argentinean, Cuban, Brazilian, Ecuadorean and Venezuelan delegates are taking part in a two-day meeting to work out unified criteria for raising awareness of what the region has to offer for holidaymakers, according to news agency Xinhua.
Pedro Morejon, Venezuela’s tourism minister, urged countries in Latin America and the Caribbean to unite in their efforts to boost tourism.
He highlighted his country’s intention to conduct tourist exchanges with Brazil prior to the football World Cup in 2014, the news provider reports.
Speaking from the National Park El Avila in Venezuela, Mr Morejon also said that the delegates are seeking to have the Amazon rainforest, which stretches across Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil, confirmed as one of the natural wonders of the world.
Meanwhile, Samantha Gore, sales and marketing director at Brazilian property specialist uv10, recently said that the World Cup in 2014 will attract investors to the country.
