Long-term property investors ‘will prosper’
Property investors who have long-term foresight will make the biggest gains, according to an industry expert.
Those who seek out investments in emerging markets like Brazil stand to make the biggest profits as entry costs can be low, with property prices hovering on the brink of a boom.
Chris Horne, the editor of independent real estate publication Property Hawk, said that the current credit crunch is making landlords think twice about their choice.
He said: "[The credit crunch] is probably making new landlords think harder and more carefully about where they buy and what the yields are and they will probably avoid some of the overpriced new builds.
"[As a result] the serious long-term investors will be more likely to get property for a reasonable price because the speculative element that has crept in over the last few years will have gone."
In a new report this week Brazil was named as the best place for property investment in Latin America after Chile for its wide variety of real estate opportunities.
Property investment news site NuWireInvestor championed city investment locations such as Sao Paulo as well as the picturesque beach destinations around Rio de Janeiro.
