Number of international flights arriving in Brazil increases
The Brazilian ministry of tourism has claimed that the number of international flights to the country increased in November last year.
New figures revealed that November saw a 15.46 per cent increase in the number of regular flights arriving in the country.
The agency claimed that 528,643 passengers travelled to the country on regular flights during this time, compared with 457,834 a year earlier.
Additionally, a total of 548,939 passengers arrived during November, representing an 11.77 per cent increase on the figure recorded during the corresponding month in 2006.
It was also noted by Jose Francisco de Salles Lopes, director of studies and research at Embratur, that November was the first period that arrival numbers were higher than before the airline Varig experienced significant problems.
Earlier this month, Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency reported that the number of kilometres flown by domestic passengers in 2007 was 11.9 per cent higher than in 2006, according to Dow Jones.
The agency said that in total, 44.43 billion kilometres were flown by domestic passengers.
