Parana’s harvest bites

A southern Brazilian state has been crowned the nation’s leading producer of grain, it has been reported.

New figures released by the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics predict Parana will harvest 32.2 tonnes in its 2008 crop, according to ANBA.

This represents nearly one quarter (22.3 per cent) of the national crop which is forecasted to be 144.3 million tonnes.

People considering property for sale in Brazil could be interested to hear the country is expecting record crops while the rest of the world is gripped by soaring food costs.

Meanwhile, it was reported by Brazzil Mag this week that the Latin American nation’s beef exports are showing growth of 10.4 per cent, according to figures released by the country’s Beef Industry and Exporters Association.

In related news it was also reported by ANBA this week that total exports from Brazil to the Arab nations so far this year had soared by nearly one third compared to the same time last year, according to Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce figures.
