Petrobras boosts oil production in Brazil
Oil and gas production by Petrobras in Brazil rose by 0.7 per cent in May, compared to April’s figures.
The Brazilian oil producer saw output increase to 1.99 million barrels per day (bpd) in May, up from 1.98 million in the previous month, in news which may interest Brazilian property owners.
In a statement, Petrobras said: "This 14,000-bpd difference derived mainly from wells going on stream at platforms P-50 (Albacora Leste) and P-53 (Marlim Leste) and from the increased production of the wells connected to FPSO-Cidade de Niteroi (Marlim Leste)."
Outside of Brazil, production of both oil and natural gas increased to a daily average of 2.547 million, a boom of 7.6 per cent on April’s figures.
The company recently revealed it had found more light oil in the Santo Basin, near the coast of Sao Paulo, at a depth of 4,900m.
It followed a discovery a few weeks earlier of oil near Rio de Janeiro, also in the Campo Basin.
