Porto Alegre is a ‘friendly Brazilian property destination’
People looking at investing in Brazilian property should try visiting Porto Alegre as it offers a sophisticated and friendly atmosphere.
Richard Fiander, a travel writer for Recorder Newspapers, said that while most people’s images of Brazil are of the provocative, colourful Carnival in Rio, it also has its quieter regions which would be ideal for setting up home.
"A fun place in the heart of Porto Alegre is the mercado publico [public market] an imposing ochre-coloured building that contains a vast mix of stalls selling household goods, meat, fish, vegetables, wine, regional handicrafts and a variety of herbs and teas," he added.
The writer added that north of Porto Alegre is the Serra Gaucha, a range of hills and low-lying mountains, which is a popular destination between June and August as people go in search of snow, while hiking is also "excellent all-year round".
As the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre is one of the richest metropolises in the country and has the highest life quality rate in Brazil.
