Sao Paulo named a top ten city
The Brazilian city of Sao Paulo has been included in Lonely Planet’s top ten cities list.
Along with Chicago, Lisbon, Zurich and Shanghai, Sao Paulo was selected by the travel guide for inclusion in its Best in Travel 2009 guide because it offers a new and exciting holiday destination.
The city’s increasing attraction to tourists could be good news for people with property in Brazil.
Lonely Planet’s new guide aims to capture "the world’s hottest travel trends, destinations, journeys and experiences for the year ahead, bringing together the expertise of Lonely Planet authors, staff and travellers," says the publisher.
On its website, Lonely Planet praises Sao Paulo’s cultural offerings, saying they are "on par" with any capital city.
It also comments on the region’s warmth and fast-paced lifestyle.
The Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro was recently cited as a glamorous holiday destination by the Press and Journal, which singled out the city’s beaches and nightlife for praise.
