Sao Paulo to host world music festival
A world music festival is set to rock Sao Paulo next month, it has been reported.
People considering buying property in Brazil could be interested to hear that the Bridgestone Music Festival will be uniting ‘world music’ stars on Sao Paulo stages in a move that further underlines the city’s reputation as a leading tourist resort.
Those performing include singer-songwriter Souad Massi from Algeria and Mauritia’s Daby Toure – who has supported Peter Gabriel on a world tour.
We want to "shake up the [country's] music scene", the event’s artistic director Toy Lima told ANBA.
According to the organisers, Ms Massi is one of the biggest names in world music and the Algerian singer is comparable to icons such as Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman and Joan Baez.
If a success, the festival could be promoted simultaneously in the cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro next year.
Meanwhile, Brazil was described recently as a world leader in the medical tourism market.
The Latin American nation was named one of the world’s top medical tourist destinations by the New Wire investor publication.
