TAM win tourism award
Brazilian property investors could be interested to hear that one of the country’s airlines has been awarded a 2008 tourism award.
TAM won the 2008 Best in Travel and Tourism by the readers of Viagem e Turismo magazine, which awards firms operating in the nation’s tourism industry every year.
David Bariono Neto, the firm’s president, said the award was an honour that reflects the dedication of the organisation’s 24,000 employees.
Sylvio Ferraz Jr, a director of the company, said: "We are very proud and happy to have been chosen by the magazine, especially when we have just completed ten years of service."
The awards were founded in 2001 and select the best operators in the Brazilian and international tourism sectors across 22 categories including hotels, restaurants, beaches, parks and travel agencies.
Meanwhile, the Brazil Arab News Agency reported this week that two of the Latin American nation’s two biggest banks have merged.
Itau-Unibanco is now targeting the global finance market and wants to compete with the world’s biggest banks.
