Brazil has received another endorsement from a high-profile Olympian – swimmer Ian Thorpe, Brazilian property investors may be interested to learn.
The five-times Olympic gold medallist was spotted relaxing on the beach in Fernando de Noronha with friends.
He spent a month travelling around Brazil over the New Year period and is expected to return to Sydney where he will continue his university studies.
Thorpedo, as he is also known, won three gold medals representing Australia at his home games in Sydney in 2000, adding two more Olympic titles in Athens in 2004 before retiring from swimming in 2006.
He is a legend in the sport, having also won 11 world titles and setting 23 records during his relatively short career.
Recently, quadruple Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy revealed that he is investing in property in Brazil, which he said has "incredible" potential.
The British cycling star decided to buy a holiday home in north-eastern coastal resoirt of Natal.
