VRG’s UK flight route opens
Brazilian airline Varig (VRG) began operating its newest international route between Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and London yesterday.
According to statistics released by the Brazilian Tourism Ministry, London is one of the most popular destinations for Brazilian travellers whilst England is amongst the top ten countries providing tourists to the Latin American country, making the flight route an invaluable addition to VRG’s portfolio.
Tickets for the route can be purchased from VRG’s website and it will operate throughout the week, with the exception of Wednesdays and Thursdays when the service is unavailable.
Lincoln Amano, commercial director at VRG, said: "Launching this new route to London is another important step in Varig’s international expansion plan, which already includes flights to key European cities in France, Germany and Italy.
"By adding London to our route network, we are further increasing the number of daily flight options between South America and Europe."
In 2006, around 170,000 English tourists travelled to Brazil and 175,000 Brazilians came to England in the same period.
