Brazil and Argentina sign joint promotion agreement
Brazil and Argentina have signed an "agreement of joint promotion" to boost their tourism trade in Asia and the Middle West this week.
The two Latin American countries signed the deal to promote tourism in the Arabian Emirates, India and China over the next year in a bid to attract tourists from "far countries" to both Brazil and Argentinean destinations in one trip.
President of Embratur, the Brazilian tourism institute, Ms Jeanine Pires signed the agreement with the president of the National Institute of Tourism Promotion in Argentina, Mr Miguel Cuberos, during the International Tourism Fair held in Buenos Aires.
The Minister of Tourism in Brazil, Ms. Marta Suplicy, and the Tourism Secretary in Argentina, Carlos Enrique Meyer, also attended the event.
Beginning in January 2008, the agreement will see both countries promoting their tourist industries at fairs, seminars, press trips and familiarisation tours to travel agents and the general public in the Arabian Emirates, India and China.
Projects scheduled as part of the deal include a booth at a forthcoming trade fair in Hong Kong, a workshop in Dubai in the Arabian Emirates and a tour with Chinese operators.
