Brazil is surfers’ paradise, says expert
Brazil is a "superb" destination for surfers, from beginner boarders to more experienced wave-catchers, according to an expert.
Chris O’Toole, writing for Travelbite.co.uk, lists the South American country among its "unique surfing holiday ideas around the world", saying it is a great place to take part in the sport, even though it is better known for football.
He suggests Cupe beach, near Porto de Galinhas, on the east coast, for "world-class wave quality and high peaks" or nearby Natal for "glassy surf and consistent beach break".
"The vibe on and around Brazil’s stupendous beaches is unhurried, the roads unmade and the white sands unspoilt," Mr O’Toole explains.
Jericoacoara, on the north-eastern coast, is perfect for beginners or long boarders and nearby Malhada is a favourite for advanced short boarders.
Last month, National Geographic magazine named Brazil the best destination in the world for adventure, placing it joint top with Nepal.
