Brazil ‘offers opportunities of rapid investment growth’
Brazil offers enormous opportunities for rapid investment and growth, according to India’s new president.
Pratibha Patil added that her country’s relationship with its South American trade-ally can be exploited for mutual gain
Speaking to press on her first trip abroad since she took office nine months ago, President Patil said: "[Brazil has a] large and growing economy, with enormous opportunities for further rapid investment and growth."
Accompanying the president on her state visit is Madhur Bajaj, head of India’s Bajaj auto company, who told Brazilian business leaders that in terms of tourism: "There is a trick or two we have to learn from you."
The country is India’s biggest trade partner in Latin America.
According to figures released by the Brazilian government, the trade between the two countries was up nearly a third (29.4 per cent) in 2007, reaching $3.12 billion (£1.5 billion).
