Brazil receives glowing Olympic report
Brazil’s impressive transportation structure and sporting venues have gained the country a promising report by the International Olympic Committee, which may boost the value of Brazilian property.
The country is bidding to host the 2016 Olympics and in a recent evaluation received a big boost by receiving the fewest direct criticisms compared to its rival bidders – Chicago, Madrid and Tokyo.
Carlos Nuzman, president of Rio’s bid to bring the games to South America for the first time, was "very happy" with the report.
"The commission’s visit was a great success and this has been highlighted in its description of our documentation and presentations of ‘a very high quality’," he added.
A vote to decide which country will host the games will be held in Copenhagen, with Mr Nuzman confirming that Brazil’s president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will be part of the bid for the final presentation.
Brazil will also host the football World Cup in 2014, with infrastructure projects already underway for the event.
