Brazilian property firm Cyrela sees 67% rise in profits
A major Brazilian property developer has reported a 67 per cent rise in profits during the second quarter of the year.
Cyrela Brazil Realty, the largest homebuilder in the country, reported that net income rose to 157.1 million reais (£51.7 million), compared to 94 million reais in profits a year earlier.
The firm said that a rise in sales of its Brazilian property units during the April to June period was behind the increase in net income.
Cyrela’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation – a yardstick of operational profitability and cash generation known as EBITDA – also rose by 37 per cent in the second quarter of the year, standing at 209.4 million reais.
The announcement follows the release of results from the company’s division dealing with commercial property in Brazil, which included gross profits of 50.82 million reais for the second quarter of the year.
Cyrela Commercial Properties Empreendimentos e Particoacoes also reported net revenues of 53.82 million reais.
