Brazilian property owners boost luxury carmaker’s sales

Soaring demand from Brazilian property owners has helped three of the world’s largest car makers improve their sales last month.

Strong growth in Brazil, China and India has seen BMW record a two per cent increase in sales over the same month a year ago.

Figures in Brazil doubled to 838 vehicle sales, meaning that the car manufacturer had surpassed figures for last year within the first ten months of 2009.

Ian Robertson, head of sales and marketing for BMW, said: "Our sales figures have been steadily recovering since April and we were able to make gains in October as planned."

Audi also recorded encouraging sales figures among Brazilian property owners.

Up to 2,300 cars were sold there this year, with experts predicting that 5,000 could be sold in 2013, two years earlier than expected.

Mercedes Benz was another car firm to show improvements in sales figures, aided by its performance in improving economies.

Brazil has been one of the countries which has recovered quickest from the effects of the recession, thanks to a stable banking system and a number of tax cuts introduced by the government.
