Brazilian property second in world for capital appreciation
Brazilian property ranks second in the world for capital appreciation, closely following the first-placed US, according to the latest figures.
A report by the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate revealed that property in Brazil has entered the top ten for capital appreciation for the first time.
Obelisk Investment said that the short history of investment in Brazilian property is the reason for it not featuring in the top ten previously.
It said that investors have realised the potential of the real estate in the country more recently, which has boosted its popularity.
"Brazil boasts several prime areas for property investment including [the] north-east," the firm said.
"Here, luxury properties are priced at a fraction of what you would expect to pay in an equivalent resort in Europe," it added.
Recent research by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors found that the market for commercial property in Brazil is among the best in the world at the moment in terms of the outlook for rental and capital values.
