Brazilian property to benefit from modernised ports
People who are thinking about investing in Brazilian property have been told that the country’s ports will benefit from the hosting of the 2014 football World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games.
MacauHub.com reported that the Brazilian government will spend 6.2 billion reais (£2.2 billion) on modernising ports and airports around the South American country.
It is hoped that these improvements will be made in time for the two sporting events, which are set to bring further infrastructure improvements to Brazil.
The news source reported that 740 million reais will be spent at seven ports, including Recife, Fortaleza, Santos and property hotspot Natal.
Furthermore, 13 airports will be improved, with 5.5 billion reais being spent on these.
According to the Brazilian government, the updated ports will allow cruise ships to moor in the World Cup host cities, serving as temporary hotels for people who might be interested in Brazilian property.
Earlier this month, president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said that a new high-speed train link between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo should be ready for the 2016 Games.
