Brazil’s exports beefed up
Brazil’s beef exports are booming this year showing growth of more than one tenth (10.4 per cent), it has been reported.
Figures released this week by the Brazilian Beef Industry and Exporters Association (Abiec) revealed sales have reached in excess of $2 billion (£1 billion) in 2008, according to Brazzil Mag.
People looking at property for sale in Brazil could be interested to hear the country is leading the beef-export way as it shows economic buoyancy in the nation.
Roberto Giannetti da Fonseca, Abiec’s new president, said the industry might have lost quantity but it had gained in value.
A total of 920,860 tonnes of beef had been shipped to countries worldwide, which is 20.27 per cent compared to the same time next year.
"We are leaders in the global market," he added.
The Latin American country is now responsible for one-third of global exports of beef, he concluded.
In related news, it was reported this week by ANBA that total exports from Brazil to Arab countries so far this year had boomed by nearly one third compared to the same time in 2007, according to latest figures from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
