Brazil’s Iguazu Falls among finalists in 7 Wonders of Nature shortlist
The magnificent Iguazu Falls, which separates Brazil and Argentina, has been named among the finalists for the new 7 Wonders of Nature contest, which could bring future benefits for those with Brazilian property in the region.
Former director general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation Federico Mayor Zaragoza and six professionals selected the waterfall, along with another of Brazil’s biggest attractions, the Amazon jungle.
Millions of people submitted votes on the internet, with the panel choosing each candidate based on their beauty, diversity, historical legacy and ecological significance.
For those with properties in Brazil near to these landmarks, the news could encourage more people to visit them and, in turn, seek high-quality accommodation to rent while there.
In other news, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva recently announced plans to curb the current levels of deforestation in the Amazon and give people living there rainforest land titles.
