Embraer announces booming growth
A Brazilian aircraft manufacturer has announced growth of nearly one-third (32 per cent) in the first quarter of 2008 compared to the same period last year.
Embraer has posted new revenues of $1.3 billion (£650 million) for the first three months of this year.
The firm has revealed that its net profit grew by more than three-quarters (78.4 per cent) amounting to some $38.1 million.
It delivered 45 jets to customers for business and executive aviation between January and March compared to 25 the previous year.
A company statement said: "On March 31, 2008, Embraer’s firm order backlog, including the commercial aviation, the executive aviation and the defence and government segments totalled a new record of $20.3 billion."
Meanwhile, the airline signed the declaration for carbon neutral growth at an aviation and environment summit held in Geneva, Switzerland last month.
Frederico Fleury Curado, the company’s president and chief executive, stressed the need for a common environmental vision.
