Embraer signs up at eco-aviation summit
A Brazilian airline has joined the aerospace community acting on climate change.
Embraer has signed the declaration for carbon neutral growth at an aviation and environment summit held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Frederico Fleury Curado, the company’s president and chief executive, stressed the need for a common vision.
"Embraer’s presence at this landmark event is of great importance to us, since this makes it possible to combine our environmental initiatives with those of our industry partners and peers," he added.
The company claims it uses cutting edge construction technologies that result in lightweight structures and fuel-efficiency.
A company statement said: "Embraer takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously and is committed to reducing emissions via fuel efficiency, aerodynamic design, new materials, and other technological advancements in its products."
Meanwhile, the firm rolled out its new Phenom 300 jet at its Sao Paulo plant last week.
It claims the premium comfort aircraft is the best of its kind and has a low operating cost.
