FIFA gives Brazil thumbs up
The International Football Federation (FIFA) has recommended Brazil to host the World Cup in 2014.
In a report published yesterday inspectors said: "Brazil is an appropriate choice the hold the 2014 FIFA World Cup…[the country] has shown the potential and demonstrated itself to be more than capable of hosting an exceptional [competition]."
Convinced of the country’s organisational abilities, the inspectors said that they were confident the Brazilian government would be able to produce sufficient facilities and stadiums for the thousands of visitors who will travel to the country for the event.
Brazil, which is Latin America’s largest economy, has already named 18 venues for the tournament, of which 14 will be renovated and four brand new stadiums will be built.
Public transportation, hotels and budget preparation also received good feedback from FIFA’s inspectors.
The international football tournament may provide a boost to Brazil’s continually improving aviation industry, with large numbers of spectators flying into the country.
Furthermore, tourism in the Latin American country is currently growing at a rate of 7.2 per cent, offering those who visit Brazil continually better facilities for their stay.
