High profile events ‘boosting Brazilian tourism industry’
Brazil’s tourist industry is benefitting "greatly" from a number of events which are set to be held in the country in the coming years.
Companiesandmarkets.com said that the 2014 Fifa World Cup is set to be a huge draw for tourists, which could boost Brazilian property investors.
In 2016, the Olympic Games will come to Rio de Janeiro, with the government also confirming that it will invest plenty of cash ahead of these events to improve the country’s facilities.
The firm said that between 2001 and 2008, the number of inbound visitors to Brazil increased from 4.7 million to 7.2 million, with this number set to rise to 9.2 million by 2014.
These figures have been reflected by Brazilian airline Gol Transportes Aeroes, which said that year on year growth for January 2010 compared with last year stands at 32 per cent.
Furthermore, the annual Carnival events around the country also attract thousands of visitors each year, which benefits those who have invested in Brazilian property.
