Local knowledge is an advantage for Brazil property buyers

Local knowledge is a "distinct advantage" when buying real estate, according to an expert, whether that is property in Brazil or elsewhere.

Richard Bowser, editor at Property Investor News, explains that many naïve buyers made the mistake of focusing on supply without concentrating on demand.

He says that it is important for real estate buyers, including Brazil property purchasers, to research and the area and ensure they have a good knowledge of the local market.

Investors who intend to rent out a property, whether it is UK accommodation or Brazil real estate, need to make sure they are able to control and manage their assets without distance becoming a problem.

"It is about weighing up the risks of dealing with the greater distances and times," Mr Bowser says.

Meanwhile, Vibecke Lykke Olsen, co-founder of Brazilian property developer ViaMar Groupo, recently said that demand for accommodation in the country is set to rise ahead of the World Cup in 2014.
