Low mortgage rates ‘encouraging people to move abroad’
Those looking at investing in Brazilian property have been told that low mortgage rates have helped to push the number of Brits owning homes abroad to more than one million.
Ian Cowie, writing for the Daily Telegraph, cited a survey by the Post Office, which suggested that people need to do more research into the costs associated with living overseas.
However, another survey from NatWest found that 58 per cent of expats find living abroad "better than expected", with 71 per cent of pensioners claiming that they made the right decision by leaving the UK to enjoy their retirement.
"Expats are happy with their chosen life paths. It’s encouraging to see that the majority of expats believe they made the right decision and are living their chosen dream,” says Dave Isley, head of NatWest International Personal Banking.
Paul Collins, editor at the BuyAssociation, recently advised people looking at Brazilian property to take as much care as they would in the UK when investing in a foreign home.
