New figures highlight strength of Brazilian economy
The growing strength of the Brazilian economy has once again been highlighted as auto-manufacturers report record sales.
Citing increasing consumer demand, which is being largely driven by the ’strong economic rebound’ being seen in the country, the sector has announced that it enjoyed a 32 per cent increase in output in March when compared to the preceding month.
At the same time, the figures, which have been reported by Reuters, showed that sales were up by 17.9 per cent over the first three months of 2010 in comparison to the same period of last year.
In particular, a number of foreign-owned carmakers are benefiting from the strength of the Brazilian economy, with the likes of Fiat and General Motors enjoying large market shares in the Latin American country.
These latest statistics would appear to back up the recent comments made by Wall Street Journal writer Paulo Prada, who noted that Brazil is well-placed to become the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2050.
