Brazil Property News: Aerial highways vital to tourism markets

20th November 2007 09:48

A rational aerial highways system is vital for boosting tourism in emerging markets, according to reports this week

Lelei LeLaulu, president of Counterpart International, a non-profit international development organisation, asserted that tourism is the world's biggest and fastest growing industry, helping many developing markets emerge as global leaders.

A rational aerial highways system, he said, would enable emerging markets to "lift tourists in" and strengthen their travel markets, reports Breaking News.

His comments are good news for Brazil, whose leading aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced that it has taken orders for 63 jets, in a series of deals worth a total of $665.5 million (£325.16 million) this month.

In October, international airline Emirates launched the first direct flight between the Middle East and Latin America, further boosting Brazil's aerial highways.

Growth in the aviation sector is supported by a thriving tourist industry in Brazil.

According to the Brazilian tourist board, Embratur, tourism in the country is growing at a rate of 7.2 per cent and this August the country received an all-time high of foreign tourists.
