Brazil Property News: Agribusiness export figures rise

8th September 2008 05:00

The amount of exports from Brazil's agribusiness industry is expected to grow by over 27 per cent by the end of 2008.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, between January and July the revenue from exports reached US$41.7 billion (£23.6 billion), showing a growth of 30.2 per cent compared to the same period last year, reports brazzilmag.com.

In news which may interest people considering investing in Brazil real estate, the total of exports is forecasted to hit $74.4 billion by the end of 2008, which would represent a growth of 27.4 per cent from 2007's figure.

Matheus Zanella, technical advisor at the National Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock, told the website: "Up to the end of the year, all figures seem to show that agribusiness exports should continue heated, stimulated by prices, even if the volumes exported do not always follow the expansion of the sector."

It is also reported by Merco Press that the consumer price index in Brazil rose by 0.28 per cent during August.
