26th September 2008 07:00

Brazilian property investors could be interested to hear the Latin American nation's government has helped the country's exporters earn $8.8 billion (£4.3 billion), it has been reported.

Firms taking part in the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency's (Apex-Brasil) projects are way ahead of targets to meet $11.9 billion this year, according to Brazzil magazine.

The report claims the companies' performance in the first six months of 2008 met nearly three-quarters (73.7 per cent) of the annual objective.

According to the publication, Apex-Brasil has assisted nearly 5,000 organisations through its projects in 2008, which is up by nearly one-third (30.8 per cent) compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, in other news which could interest those considering buying property in Brazil the magazine reported this week that bulk steel production in the Latin American country increased by seven per cent last month.

Production levels reached a record of 3.14 million tonnes in August, which is up 6.9 per cent compared to the same period in 2007.
