Brazil Property News: Big investment for Brazilian automakers

Brazil's auto industry will spend $15 billion (£7.2 billion) to expand its production capacity, according to new reports.
Over the next three years, the investment will expand the country's annual car production from 3.5 million to five million, industry and trade minister Miguel Jorge told Reuters.
Mr Jorge said: "The industry has already contracted extra shifts during the weekend and holidays through the end of the year and some companies are contracting additional shifts for next year."
He forecasted that the car assembly and spare parts industry has around $15 billion (£7.2 billion) planned for investment in this sector.
The news follows reports that Brazilian automakers are having their best year to date, with 1.2 million vehicles sold in the first half of 2007, according to Spectrum Online.
The Brazilian tourism industry is also celebrating record revenues this summer, thanks to foreign tourists.
Embratur, the Brazilian tourist board, announced this month that in August foreign tourists brought $431 million (£222 million) of revenue into the country, a 16.03 per cent increase compared to last year's figure for that period.
