Brazil Property News: Brazil considering Chinese links

Chinese tourists could provide a new boost to Brazil's property market under a new scheme, it has emerged.
The setting up of a promotional tourism office in China with the aim of encouraging the flow of holidaymakers between the country and Brazil is being proposed by Marta Suplicy, Brazil's minister for tourism, reports Estado.
It is reported that the office would be located in Sao Paulo and could be a key promotional asset in attracting the estimated 50 million Chinese tourists that will be located around by 2010, Mr Suplicy told the news provider.
"In 2020 that figure will be 100 million. And we want some of those tourists," she added.
Some 37,000 Chinese tourists travelled to Brazil, according to government figures reported by Macauhub.
Chinese citizens can also travel in a group without needing an exit vias from Beijing after the country's government granted Brazil the status of approved tourist destination in 2005, the article noted.
Despite the impact of the credit crunch on global markets, domestic demand within the Asian markets is expected to offset the effects of US economic slowdown and maintain growth for China's small and medium-sized enterprises and the overall economy, suggested Margaret Leung, global co-head of commercial banking at HSBC in the Asia Times.
