Brazil Property News: Brazil hoping to attract tourists

11th March 2008 05:58

The Brazilian minister for tourism is embarking upon a visit to China to help promote the country as a tourism destination.

Xinhua reports that Marta Suplicy is hoping to learn from China's preparations for the Beijing Olympics to find out ways of boosting the country's tourism sector.

The minister told the news provider that 37,000 Chinese tourists visited the country in 2006 - a number it hopes will reach 100,000 next year.

"We would like to be able to have shows and demonstrations of Brazilian products in downtown Beijing, at the House of Brazil," she explained.

The country will also seek to "spread as much publicity as possible" to raise its profile as a holiday destination, Ms Suplicy added.

In related news, Amberlamb recently recommended property investors consider the market in Brazil, which is currently supported by "fantastic fiscal fundamentals".

The country has also been able to withstand the economic problems created by the US economy's downturn.
