Brazil Property News: Brazil 'invites energy suggestions'

29th December 2008 06:53

The Brazilian government has invited people to put forward suggestions regarding the country's Ten-Year Plan for Expansion of Energy (PDE 2008-2017), investors looking for Brazil real estate may be interested to learn.

Interested parties can give their opinions to the Ministry of Mines and Energy between now and January 20th next year, according to Brazzil magazine.

The government's PDE aims to forecast changes in the energy market over the next decade and is seeking public contributions to increase transparency and improve studies, according to the publication.

Brazilian ministers have already implemented a number of suggestions from the public, mainly relating to fossil and renewable fuels, among others.

Earlier this month, the government launched its National Plan on Climate Change, outlining sustainable development policies.

Among the goals the country is aiming to achieve are a ten per cent reduction in annual electricity consumption by 2030 and increasing the use of sugarcane ethanol as a vehicle fuel by more than a tenth every year.
