Brazil was the "topic" of a sustainable tourism fair held in Argentina this month, according to new reports.
The largest economy in Latin America's efforts to promote eco-tourism came under the spotlight at the International Tourism Fair in Buenos Aires, where the president of the Brazilian tourism institute Embratur spoke.
Ms Jeanine Pires gave a speech on the theme to delegates at the Argentinean event, which was attended by tour operators and travel agents.
She said: "We want to show what it is that Brazil has that is different and unique. Our objective is to become a global reference in sustainability and clean tourism."
Fernando de Noronha in the state of Pernambuco and the Mumirauna Reserve in the Amazon region were tipped during her speech as top sustainable tourism destinations in the country.
Ms Pires also highlighted Brazil's "pioneering production" of bio-fuels and its dedication to fighting the burning and deforestation of the Amazon rainforest.
Embratur offers tourists a whole range of sustainable tourism options on its website, enabling holidaymakers to explore the country without causing environmental damage.
