Brazil Property News: Brazil sends special committee to Mexico to 'lure in' tourists

17th April 2008 03:50

Brazil's ministry of tourism (Embratur) has created a new body designed to attract tourists from Mexico.

The Discover Brazil Committee aims to increase the number of Mexican tourists who visit the Latin American nation.

People who are considering buying property in Brazil could be interested in this news, as the extra tourists visiting the country will need somewhere to stay during their trip.

Representatives of the four airlines that operate between the two countries, travel agents, diplomats and tourism chiefs met recently to decide how to implement the service in the North American nation.

The project will begin in June and the committee will operate from an office next-door to the Brazilian embassy in Mexico.

A statement from Embratur said that the committee will spread the news of Brazilian destinations and support the country as a tourist destination amongst the Mexican people.

"The action [aims to] bring more Mexican [tourists] to Brazil," it concluded.

Brazil already has eight such committees in South American countries.

Meanwhile, last month Embratur chairman Jeanine Pires claimed that tourists were expected to spend $10 billion (£5 billion) in Brazil by 2010.
